Tottenham Hotspur keeper Heurelho Gomes sparked transfer speculation a couple of days ago when he posted on his Instagram site that he was “off to Eindhoven”.

Predictably it led to several stories suggesting the Brazilian goalkeeper was rejoining his former club PSV Eindhoven, however this wasn’t the case.

The 32-year-old keeper was quick to stop those talks with a message on his Facebook website.

The Evening Standard quoted the Spurs keeper, who said: “Yesterday I shared a picture, and I wrote “off to Eindhoven”, but I didn’t say that I was going back to PSV.

“I went there because I have still got friends there and I went to visit one of them.

“Everyone knows that PSV is very special for me and I hope that I can play there again one day, but it is not the case at the moment. I have been as professional as possible during the time I’m not playing.

“I still have a contract here until the summer and of course I believe I got many years to play at the top level.

“Thank you so much for all the best wishes that I received from my Spurs fans and the welcome messages that I received from my PSV fans, but I’m not going anywhere yet!”
