It seems that everyone wants to play in a World Cup and one of the more unusual contenders to represent his country this summer has not given up hope of being there, even at the age of 34 and depite being uncapped thus far.

Crystal Palace’s goalkeeper Julian Speroni hasn’t even made Argentina’s squad before but refuses to give up on his dream of playing in the sport’s biggest tournament. Speaking with the Daily Star, the former Dundee stopper cited this weekend’s F.A. Cup action as the perfect opportunity to impress.

“Everyone knows about the F.A. Cup and playing in the final at Wembley. The games are broadcast live on tv and it has a rich history.”

“You can remind people that you are still around and it’s still a dream of mine to play for Argentina. Hopefully it’s not too late and I can get a chance to prove myself.”

Palace travel to holders Wigan this afternoon as they seek to remedy a tough season in which they are striving to avoid relegation under new manager Tony Pulis.
