Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho has received a welcome endorsement of his talents by his club manager Mauricio Pellegrini ahead of this summer’s World Cup.

The Manchester City boss has tipped his player to make the cut for Luiz Felipe Scolari’s final 23 and told clubcall.com as much: “I am really surprised that Fernandinho is not in the Brazilian team so far. I am sure in the future he wil be as he is a top player.”

“I think he will be (in this summer’s World Cup squad). I suppose that Scolari sees all the games of Manchester City and Fernandinho is one of the best players of the season.”

The diminutive 28 year-old joined City in the close season from Ukranian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk for £30 million and has impressed as the club fights for trophies on four fronts. Fernandinho has won five caps for Brazil thus far.
