Neymar’s contract did not have a confidentiality clause
The newspaper El Periódico de Catalunya says that there is no reason for Sandro Rosell to refuse to talk about the signing of the player from Santos.
Neymar is injured but the headlines surrounding the 21-year-old have intensified over the past week due to an off-field issue: the value of the player’s transfer to Barcelona.
When asked about the subject recently, the president of the Catalan club, Sandro Rosell, confirmed that the club paid approximately £46m in total for the player but stressed that he wouldn’t say any more on the issue due to a confidentiality clause.
El Periódico de Catalunya, however, claims that there was no confidentiality clause in the final contract as the Barcelona board argued that they wanted the deal to be ‘transparent’.
The president of Santos, Odílio Rodrigues, stated that he preferred to leave the issue in the hands of the Spanish courts, stressing that the club’s relationship with Neymar has always been an ethical one based on transparency.
