The Technical Director of the World Cup’s host nation Brazil, Carlos Alberto Parreira, has suggested there will be very few surprises in coach Luiz Felipe Scolari’s final squad for this year’s tournament.

Felipao has used over 70 players since taking over the national team in 2012 as he attempts to select a combination of 23 that will hopefully take Brazil to their sixth world title.

Speaking with Corujao do Esporte, Parreira said: “Of course we have to pay attention because we still have six months to go and a player could get injured or lose form , so you must have at least three players on your radar for each position, just in case.”

“But like (Spain coach) Del Bosque says, football is a ‘sport of the moment’. We will decide closer to the time, but there will be no surprises.”

The final warm-up game for Scolari’s side before the squad is announced is against South Africa in Johannesburg on March 5.
