Manchester United could be close to making a crucial signing in the January transfer window and it may be Brazil defender Dante.

The Bayern Munich central defender revealed on air to Fox Sport Brazil that his future will be decided at the end of the month but hinted that he could move to England.

English newspaper the Metro also reported the news and attributed the quotes to the 30-year-old.

Dante said: “I’m still not (a Manchester United player). I continue at Bayern, and I thank Manchester United for their interest. It will all be sorted by the end of the month.

This news follow other reports from the Daily Telegraph which state that United manager David Moyes will be in Germany this weekend to watch Dante in action for Bayern.

Manchester United’s early exit from the FA Cup means they have a week off and Moyes will use it to assess Dante and other players in the Bundesliga match between Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayern Munich.

Dante has been a regular for the German club this season but his future remains unresolved with talks over a new contract ongoing.

Moyes may feel that this is the perfect opportunity to pinch Dante and boost the clubs season, which to date has been disastrous.

A central defender is seen as a must for the Red Devils and if Moyes can secure the services of Dante, a top class defender, it will significantly boost their top four aspirations.
