Liverpool's Coates to move home on loan to aid World Cup bid
Liverpool and Uruguay defender Sebastian Coates is preparing to move back to his homeland on loan in a bid to save his World Cup dream.
The 23 year-old centre-back was brought to Anfield in the summer of 2011 and had been held in high regard by the club before a series of injuries and loss of form saw him slide down the pecking order for selection.
Having suffered a serious knee injury playing for his country against Japan in August, Coates is going to be allowed to return to his homeland and former club Nacional in an attempt to regain fitness and secure a place at the World Cup.
He told football365.com: "It would be beautiful to join Nacional and complete my recovery in Uruguay with my family and friends."
Uruguay will be competing in Group D of the competition in a tough pool that includes England, Italy and Costa Rica.
Coates has 12 caps to his name since making his debut in 2011.
