Uruguayan Álvaro Pereira says “it is a dream” to sign for São Paulo on loanÁlvaro Pereira moves to São Paulo -
São Paulo have completed the loan signing of Álvaro Pereira from Inter Milan on an 18-month contract.
Last week Lance suggested that the Uruguayan would be moving to Brazil and that has now been confirmed by both clubs.
Pereira can play either as a left-back or further up the pitch and could move to São Paulo permanently if the initial loan is a success.
The two clubs agreed a €7 million fee if São Paulo would like to make the deal permanent, whilst the 28-year-old commented on the move.
Football Italia reported quotes from Pereira who said it was a dream to join Tricolor.
“It is a pleasure and a great responsibility for me to play here,” said the Uruguayan after signing.
“It is going to be a major challenge for my career, because I want to continue the success of Uruguay players who have made history with São Paulo.
“It is a dream for me to defend the colours of one of the biggest clubs in the world and I am sure that this will add a lot to my career.
“I want to stay here for a long time and give joy to the fans.”
Diego Lugano was the most recent Uruguayan to appear for Tricolor and Pereira will be hoping to follow in his and others such as Pedro Rocha’s footsteps.
