Reports in Italy late last night suggested that Queens Park Rangers and Brazil goalkeeper Júlio César could be on the verge of moving to Serie A side Cagliari.

Sky Italia broke the news on Monday night and insist that the 34-year-old has reached an agreement with Rossoblu but that isn’t the end of the deal.

The Sardinia club has various goalkeepers on their books including Michael Agazzi and Vlada Avramov and the former is expected to be the man to move on if the Brazil keeper joins.

Although César wants the move to go through, President Massimo Cellino isn’t sure of the deal yet according to reports.

Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported the news and stated that César would be willing to reduce his wages to move back to Italy.

With the World Cup six months away, the former Inter Milan goalie needs to be playing regular football to secure his position as the Seleção number one.

César has been twiddling his thumbs this season on the substitutes bench with manager Harry Redknapp preferring Robert Green with an eye on the long-term future.

It now seems after months of speculation that the Brazilian might actually move on and it will be a relief for all parties involved and Seleção head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari in particular.
