PSG defender Maxwell has lauded his teammates after they thrashed Nantes 5-0 in Ligue 1 at the Parc des Princes yesterday.

The Brazilian left back, who joined the Paris club two years ago, has helped them to one league title and a host of rave reviews from around the globe for the potential the team has shown.

32 year-old Maxwell told the club’s website that the Nantes win was a classy one but stressed the need to prepare for future fixtures: “I think it was a very complete performance, with alot of intensity, especially in our pressing game.”

“We head home feeling we have accomplished somethingthis evening.”

“Now we have to recover for a very important match in the Coupe de France against Montpellier on Thursday.”

A very late bloomer on the intenational scene, Maxwell has only seven full caps to his name but is in favour with Luiz Felipe Scolari and is thought to be in contention to play at the World Cup this year. Fellow PSG players Thiago Silva, Lucas Moura and Marquinhos are also expected to be selected for the tournament.
