New information regarding Neymar’s transfer from Santos to Barcelona has suggested that Barcelona paid much more for the 21-year-old than initially revealed. According to the Spanish newspaper El Mundo, the new evidence was discovered by the Spanish National Audit.
According to the source, Barcelona actually paid £79m and not £47m for the player. This is because three commission payments worth millions were paid to Neymar’s family and had remained hidden until now.
Some money went to Neymar’s father whilst some went to the player’s family to help them in attracting advertising contracts and to help with social projects in the slums of São Paulo.
