Manchester United manager David Moyes has confirmed that Brazil midfielder Anderson will move to Fiorentina on a six-month loan.

It had been speculated that the 25-year-old would move to Italy on an initial short-term loan deal to try and galvanize his stalling career.

And this has now been virtually confirmed after Esporte UOL reported quotes from Moyes’s press conference this afternoon.

The Manchester United manager said: “We’ve not been able to get him as many games as he’d have hoped so we feel this is a good opportunity for him.

“He’s going to a good club in a good league so hopefully he benefits.”

Moyes didn’t remark on whether it could be made permanent in the summer or not but the general feeling is that, assuming it is a success, Anderson will join Viola after his loan.

Fiorentina also confirmed via their Twitter account that the Brazil midfielder was undergoing his medical tests ahead of his move.

It is highly unlikely that the deal will be completed in time for Anderson to feature and make his Viola debut against Catania on Sunday.

However, he will most likely be set to make his debut against Siena in the Coppa Italia on Thursday night.
