The proposed move to Fiorentina for Manchester United midfielder Anderson is almost complete and will take the form of a loan deal with a view to a permanent switch in the summer.

Largely ineffective at Old Trafford since a big-money move from Porto in 2007, Anderson has never truly been in favour under Sir Alex Ferguson or David Moyes. Injury problems and inconsistency have led to his impending departure and a move to Italy will free up space at United for Moyes to stamp his own image on the playing staff.

The Brazilian midfielder is allegedly already in Florence for a medical and the deal could be announced in the coming hours, with a future fee of €6.5 million being touted in the Italian press.

Anderson has made 179 appearances in his 6 years in Manchester, scoring a mere nine goals. He has eight caps to his name for Brazil but appears to have little chance of featuring for them at this year’s World Cup.
