Bayern Munich’s talismanic midfielder Franck Ribery has shrugged off his Ballon D’or snub and insisted he would be much more satisfied with a France victory at this year’s World Cup.

The 30 year-old maestro, one of the leading lights for all-conquering Bayern during 2013, came third in the vote for the world’s best player but remained upbeat about the rest of this season with club and country, according to goal.com.

“I am not a selfish player and the Fifa Ballon D’or was not an objective of mine.”

“I would rather win it all again with Bayern and win the world title (with France). That is what really matters.”

It is unlikely that 80-times capped Ribery wouldn’t have been enamoured with the prestigious Ballon award, but his unwavering public commitment to club and country has helped him gain a consistent fanbase for the first time in a nomadic career that has taken him from France to Turkey and found him in Munich.

France must face Switzerland, Honduras and Ecuador in Group E at this year’s Finals.
