During Monday night’s Ballon d’Or in Zurich, Ronaldo spoke about his hopes for this year’s World Cup.

“Brazil is preparing to host an amazing event. It’s a great opportunity to show how welcoming we are,” said the 37-year-old.

“The perfect end would be Brazil and Germany. 2002 was a great final. It was beautiful. We beat the Germans and ever since they have been hoping for a rematch. With it being in Brazil, I think we will win the World Cup,” he declared.

During the event, the Seleção’s current star, Neymar, was asked about the pressure that a home tournament wold bring. For the 21-year-old, to win the World Cup is a dream and fear doesn’t play a part.

“It’s not just a childhood dream of mine but of all the players. To play in a World Cup is a great privilege for a player. It’s a moment you’ll never forget. There is great competition. Obviously there is great expectation but we are focused on what we have to do and we don’t have fear,” said the Barcelona forward.
