This Tuesday the American national side began a period of training ‘tests’ in Barra Funda as their World Cup preparations continue.

The Americans will use the São Paulo’s facilities until January 24 and, as part of the deal, the Football Association of the United States will catalogue the experience on the tricolor’s social media pages and on the website.

On January 6, the FBI inspected the training base and local area but made few demands regarding security. A high-rise building close by was assessed but no threats were detected.

Staff at the training base, accustomed to dealing with São Paulo’s Brazilian stars, have been taught some words in English to help them prepare for their new visitors.

Next Thursday, Jurgen Klinsmann’s side will face São Paulo in a private practice match. The training base will only be open on four of the ten days that the Americans are there but it is expected that both Klinsmann and star-player Landon Donovan will give interviews to the press.

Team USA will face Germany, Ghana and Portugal in one of the World Cup’s toughest groups. The games will be played in Natal, Manaus and Recife.
