Cuca makes a £6.5m bid to take Elias to China
According to the player’s father and representative, Eliseu Trindade, the midfielder’s future may be in Asia. As reported in Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Trindade has confirmed that Chinese side Shandong Luneng, currently managed by Brazilian Cuca, have made a bid of £6.5m for the 28-year-old.
“I know about the bid. Let’s see what Sporting think about this. The president Bruno de Carvalho has just returned from abroad and will analyse the documents tomorrow. Let’s see what happens,” said Trindade.
Elias has expressed a desire to stay at Flamengo having impressed there last season. A deal between the parent club, Sporting Lisbon, and the rubronegro looks unlikely, however, due to the amount the Portuguese club are demanding for 50% of the player’s economic rights.
According to the player’s father, Elias is desperate to get back to playing as soon as possible. “He wants to compete and is naturally not happy with the situation at Sporting. Time is passing. The situation needs to be resolved.”
With Vagner Love and Aloísio already at the Chinese outfit, Shandong Luneng are also thought to have an interest in signing Santos holding-midfielder Cícero.
