A quick look at the Brazilian goalscorers in Europe this past weekend:

SPAIN: Striker Charles scored twice as Celta Vigo beat Valencia 2-1 to ease their immediate relegation fears.

FRANCE: Thrice-capped Ilan scored for Bastia but could not prevent a 3-2 reverse.

ITALY: Veteran right-back Maicon, capped 70 times, scored as Roma romped to a 4-0 win against Genoa. Robinho bagged for AC Milan but they lost 4-3 to lowly Sassuolo.

PORTUGAL: Academica beat Pacos Ferreira 4-2, midfielder Cleyton scoring for the home side. Nacional beat Gil Vicente 2-0 with defender Narcal on the scoresheet.

In RUSSIA and UKRAINE, home to many a Brazilian player, the leagues are in their winter shutdown until February.

A comparitively small amount of Brazilians managed to bag goals this weekend, with the so-called ‘big names’ almost entirely falling short. The likes of Neymar, Oscar, Kaka et al will be hoping for a more productive week next time out.
