Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil left back Maxwell has admitted Saturday’s victory over Ajaccio was “tough” but praised his team mates for upping their game in the second half.

PSG trailed early on but scored just before half time and grabbed the winner 16 minutes before the end to extend their lead at the top of Ligue 1.

Maxwell played the whole match and told the clubs official website about the win.

“It was a tough game, we conceded that goal and was then giving everything to level the scores. Fortunately, we managed to score before the break.

“We then put even more intensity into the game in the second period and it was important to win for the championship.”

The 32-year-old was part of last season’s title winning side and wants PSG to repeat their performance against Ajaccio every week to secure back-to-back championships.

“We know that every game will be difficult, and this will be the same until the end of the season. We must prepare physically and mentally to play this kind of game every week.”

If PSG can stay top of the league it would add another trophy to Maxwell’s hefty list, which includes La Liga, Eredivisie and Serie A titles in addition to much more.
