Two African teams in particular have been talked up ahead of this year’s World Cup by the manager of Burkina Faso, Paul Put, whose charges almost won last season’s African Cup of Nations.

The Burkanese lost the 2013 final but failed to qualify for Brazil and Put has tipped Ivory Coast and Ghana as the two sides that can have a major impact this summer.

Put said, via ghanasoccernet.com,: ” I think with Ghana and Ivory they are big football nations so I have alot of confidence in their performance and they have the players with experience to do well.”

“They have the best quality to produce a great performance at the World Cup.”

Ghana in particular have recent tournament pedigree, having gone agonisingly close to reaching the Semi Finals at the last attempt in South Africa in 2010.

They will face Germany, USA and Portugal in Group G  in Brazil while The Ivory Coast must negotiate a pool also containing Colombia, Japan and Greece.
