Young Atlético Madrid forward Léo Baptistão has moved to La Liga team Real Betis on loan until the end of the season.

The Brazilian only joined Atlético in June but manager Diego Simeone hasn’t been able to give him many opportunities as David Villa and Diego Costa have been in scintillating form.

The 21-year-old will now be given the opportunity to impress at Betis and arrived in Seville today to sign his contract. According to the clubs official website he has already trained with his new team mates.

It is likely that Baptistão will be in the squad for tomorrow’s La Liga match against Osasuna, he told the clubs website how pleased he was to sign.

“I come to a great club with a fantastic crowd and I am happy and eager to work and help the team in whatever way I can.”

Baptistão was born in Santos and played alongside Neymar when he was younger before moving to Spain and Rayo Vallecano.

It was at Vallecano where the Brazilian made a name for himself, scoring seven goals and contributing six assists in the 2012/13 campaign.

He’ll hope now that his loan to Betis gives him the opportunity to show once again his talent.

Baptistão will also be eagerly anticipating April 6 where he could play against childhood friend Neymar for the third time this season.
