Newly-promoted Brasileirão side Palmeiras have reportedly made an ambitious bid for Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo.
Sky Sport Italia claims the São Paulo-based club were politely turned down by the veteran, who is expected to agree a renewal with Juventus in the coming weeks.
The magnitude of Palmeiras offer is currently unclear, but Sky Sport Italia believes they had hoped to sign Pirlo this month, rather than wait until the summer, when he would be out of contract.
Having returned to the top flight this season, Palmeiras seem intent on making a number of statement signings. They were strongly linked with a move for Ronaldinho in December, while former Seleção stalwart Lúcio joined on a free transfer earlier this month.
