Coutinho praises Steven Gerrard as he marks year with Liverpool
Liverpool attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho has praised England captain Steven Gerrard amongst others as he celebrates a year at Anfield.
The 21-year-old joined the Premier League club last January and has been talking to the Liverpool FC website about his time in England.
He was full of praises for Lucas Leiva and Luis Suárez, stating that he felt the latter was the best in the world currently.
“Sure. He is making the difference and is scoring a lot of goals, creating loads of assists, and I hope he continues like that until the end of the season.
“As I said before, it is an honour to play with such a great player. Not only to play with him, but also Gerrard, Lucas and all the other fantastic players that we have at our club.
“Gerrard this year has been exceptional.”
The former Vasco da Gama player has settled well since joining Liverpool and has scoring five times in 30 matches, in addition to registering eight assists.
The youngster is now targeting an even better year in 2014, where his side are challenging for the Premier League title.
“We know that every match is a very difficult match but we have to improve all the time by doing our best and try to have a better year than last year.”
