On Tuesday night, Fluminense agreed a contract with striker Walter, the star of Goiás’s 2013 championship campaign.

The player’s agents met with the Tricolor vice-President, Ricardo Tenório, and the Executive Director, Felipe Ximenes, to finalise the deal. The player will now join his new teammates to take part in pre-season.

The parties agreed a two-year loan plus first refusal to buy the 24-year-old at the end of the deal or preference in the event of an external bid during the loan period. The player’s economic rights are owned by FC Porto who chose not to oppose the deal. The player’s salary will be divided between Fluminense and Unimed, with the sponsor footing the majority of the bill.

Walter’s agent, Marco Antônio Teles, confirmed the deal through LANCE!Net:

“It’s all done and Walter is preparing to play in Rio de Janeiro. What I can say is that the agreement was straightforward and that both parties are satisfied with the outcome.”
