Bayern Munich defender Dante has labelled goalkeeper Manuel Neuer the best in the world in his position.

The Brazil centre-back spoke to goal.com about the influence his club teammate has had on Bayern’s rise to the pinnacle of World domestic football, in a year that has seen the Germans win everything on offer in Europe and beyond.

In a glorious 12 months, Dante and Neuer have helped the Bavarian side to a domestic double, the Champions League, European Super Cup and the World Club Cup.

And the ex-Juventude man is under no illusions as to how vital German international shot stopper Neuer has been in achieving such success.

“We always aim to protect our goalkeeper and make sure he does not get into any difficult situations.”

“But you automatically feel confident when you know you have the best goalkeeper in the world standing behind you.”

The pair have been playing for Munich together for the past two seasons and both will be participating at this year’s World Cup, barring injury.
