Grêmio executive director Rui Costa reveals Alex Telles transfer to Galatasaray has been suspendedAlex Telles (right) when signing in 2012
The transfer of Alex Telles from Grêmio to Galatasaray has been “suspended” according to Tricolor executive director Rui Costa.
Everything had been agreed between the two sides for the transfer of the left back but a change in the terms of the contract from the Turkish club has seen the deal halted.
Lance reported Rui Costa’s claims and it now appears the 20-year-old could stay in Brazil.
“The transfer had advanced greatly. We exchanged drafts of contracts and to our surprise yesterday there was a significant change in the great security of the deal.
“The contract, the way they are proposing does not give security to Grêmio. It has not been terminated, it is suspended.”
It leaves Telles is in an unusual position but he may now feature for Tricolor in the Copa Libertadores, that is according to Costa.
The executive director also admitted that Grêmio don’t mind keeping the talented left-back but said other teams will now register an interest in the Brazilian.
“He has a current contract and will play in the Libertadores. It is a safe situation.
“The minimum we have to do, because of this change and this change does not meet our interests, is to do no business.
“This does not put Grêmio at risk. Telles is valued, there are several other clubs interested.”
