“We were matching Real Madrid” insists Celta de Vigo midfielder Rafinha
Rafinha has praised the performance of Celta de Vigo in their 3-0 defeat at Real Madrid.
Os Célticos held out until the 67th minute at the Santiago Bernabéu, before goals from Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo secured victory for Real.
Rafinha believes Celta performed admirably and were only let down by small errors.
“We were matching such a great team but if you make the slightest mistake they score,” he said, as reported by Football Espana.
“Their players are among the best in the world and if you don’t get the small details right they take advantage.
“We stood up well to them but Real Madrid are like that and they exploited our errors. If you do that to an opponent such as them then you pay for it.
“Even so, we are playing good football and doing things well, although the results have not gone for us.”
Rafinha, the brother of Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago, is on loan at Celta from Barcelona. He has made 17 appearances this season, scoring three goals.
