Marcelo Vieira da Silva was born on 12 May 1988 in Rio de Janeiro and joined Real Madrid in the winter of the 2006/07 season when only 18-years-old. Now 25, he is is one of the most experienced players in the team having made 182 appearances in the La Liga, 43 in the Champions League, 18 in the Copa del Rey and four in the Spanish Super Cup.
Capped 28 times for Brazil, Marcelo has become one of the best left-backs in the world during his time with Real Madrid. With los blancos he has won three league titles, one Copa del Rey and two Spain Super Cups.
