Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho is hoping Brazil head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari is keeping an eye on him.

The 28 year-old, who has been capped five times by the Seleção, is eager to impress Felipão ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Fernandinho is yet to be called up by the veteran tactician, but remains optimistic about is chances of being in contention for place in Scolari’s squad.

“Luiz Felipe Scolari has been around watching players,” he said, as reported by FIFA.com. “He has been in Portugal, in Italy. I am sure he will be here watching me and other players and that is no problem. I will keep trying to play well here.”

Fernandinho joined Manchester City from Shakhtar Donetsk for £30 million in June. The Londrina-native has quickly become a key part of manager Manuel Pellegrini’s side, scoring three goals in 18 appearances.
