Former Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva is said to be training with his former club following the completion of a contract at America Mineiro.

The 37 year-old, who was an instrumental figure as the Gooners went the entire 2003-04 season undefeated in the Premier League, spent six years in North London, amassing over 200 appearances for them.

After a stint in Greece with Panathinaikos, he returned to his homeland with Gremio before winning the Copa Libertadores in 2013 with Atletico Mineiro.

Silva also managed to gain 93 caps for Brazil, scoring three times.

His appearance at Arsenal’s training should not represent anything in terms of a potential short-term return as boss Arsene Wenger often invites his old guard back to maintain their fitness. Just last year, Thierry Henry and Robert Pires were spotted with the first-team squad.
