The defender David Luiz has overcome a difficult start to the season under manager José Mourinho to win the confidence of the coach and a starting place in the Chelsea team.

The Brazilian’s excellent form has been reflected by increased speculation in the transfer market. After Barcelona initially showed interest in the player, it seems as though current European champions Bayern Munich have also entered the fray.

According to the British newspaper the Daily Mail, whichever club wants to talk to the ex-Benfica star will have to offer the Blues a minimum of £35m. The idea of getting rid of the Brazilian will not appeal to Mourinho, who intends to rely on the 26-year-old.

According to rumours in the European press, David Luiz was close to moving to Barcelona in a swap deal in the last transfer window, since Mourinho did not like his style of play. The Brazilian, however, has since shown adaptability and played as a defensive midfielder against Liverpool recently.
