Tottenham Hotspur confirm Paulinho will be out for around four weeks after suffering ligament damage against Stoke City
Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed midfielder Paulinho will be out for “at least four weeks.”
The 25 year-old was forced off after 62 minutes in Spurs 3-0 win against Stoke City on Sunday, following a robust tackle from midfielder Charlie Adam.
"Following a MRI scan, the club can confirm that Paulinho has sustained significant ligament damage to his right ankle after a heavy challenge from Charlie Adam during Sunday's win against Stoke City,” an official statement said.
"The Brazil international was forced off as a result of the injury and is expected to be sidelined for at least four weeks.”
Paulinho is unlikely to return before February. The Brazil international has grown into a key player at Tottenham since arriving for £17 million from Corinthians in July. This season he’s made 19 appearances, scoring twice.
