Darío Conca happy to return to Fluminense after three seasons with Guangzhou Evergrande
Darío Conca admits he's happy to return to Fluminense after three seasons with Guangzhou Evergrande.
The 30 year-old Argentinian has had a successful stint in China. He’s won the Chinese Super League three times, the Chinese FA Cup, Chinese FA Super Cup and AFC Champions League.
After have such a memorable time with Guangzhou, who paid $10 million to sign him from Fluminense in June 2011, Conca is hoping for similar satisfaction back in Brazil.
“I hope it will be a successful return and that I can play as well as I know I am capable,” he told FIFA.com. “I want to be as happy at Fluminense as I was during the three years I played there before.
“Even though I’ve had a great time in China, I’m really excited to be going back to somewhere where I was so happy in the past.
“I worked hard to be successful back then. I won individual awards and the team won the title, and I hope that I can recreate that success because the fans deserve it. I’m going to give it everything I’ve got, because Fluminense showed faith in me and I really respect that.
"I love the club and I want to do my best for them. I don’t want to start talking about specific titles, but I hope I can bring a little happiness to the fans. Helping Fluminense is the most important thing for me.”
During his first spell with Fluminense, Conca was a heavily influental part of the side won the 2010 Brasileirão. His efforts that year saw him named the Prêmio Craque do Brasileirão - best player in the league.
In Conca's absence, Flu have won the 2012 Brasileirão, but only avoided relegation this season due to Portuguesa receiving a four point penalty for fielding Héverton, who was suspended, against Grêmio.
