Franz Beckenbauer: Bayern Munich defender Dante “played much better” last season
Legendary Bayern Munich defender Franz Beckenbauer has criticised the form of Dante.
The 68 year-old, who made over 400 appearances for Bayern, insists the Brazilian has let his standards drop from last season.
"He played much better and was much more consistent last season. Now he makes many, many mistakes. Perhaps the winter break will do him good and help him to recover,” Beckenbauer told Abendzeitung, as reported by GOAL.com.
Dante joined Bayern Munich from Borussia Mönchengladbach for €4.7 million in July 2012. He was instrumental as they won the UEFA Champions League, Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and DFL-Supercup last season.
The 30 year-old, who has been capped 10 times by Brazil, also won the UEFA Super Cup this term and has made 19 appearances under new manager Pep Guardiola.
