Atlético Mineiro defender Gilberto Silva: “We have to prepare well” to beat Raja Casablanca
Atlético Mineiro defender Gilberto Silva insists his side will not underestimate Raja Casablanca.
The Galo face the hosts in their FIFA Club World Cup semi-final on Wednesday, at the Stade de Marrakech.
Raja Casablanca have already beaten Auckland City FC and Monterrey to get to this stage of the competition and Silva expects a tough contest.
“Raja’s qualification didn’t surprise me,” he told FIFA.com. “Any team that makes it to the World Cup does so on merit.
“We can’t expect to win simply because we're favourites. We have to prepare well and be at our best, and even if we are, that's no guarantee of victory. Lots of factors can decide a game of football.
“They have good ball skills and close down space, looking to hit on the counter-attack. We need to show respect and be fully focused.”
The winner will face either Guanghzou Evergrande or Bayern Munich, who meet in the other semi-final on Tuesday in Agadir.
