Former Manchester City striker, Jo, has expressed his delight at the revival of his career at Atlético Mineiro, after troublesome years in the wilderness.

Jo made a name for himself at boyhood club, Corinthians, where he made 54 appearances scoring 23 goals along the way.

All eyes were on the forward and many clubs came calling for the youngster and in 2005 he made a move to Russia with CSKA Moscow where he endured the best scoring record of his career, 44 goals in 77 appearances.

Disappointing times at Manchester City and Galatasaray, with a unsuccessful loan move to Everton saw the 26 year old move back to his home land with Internacional.

In 2012, Atlético Mineiro cam calling to revive his career and Jo spoke to FIFA Brazil about his time with his new club: “Here at Atlético I’m lucky enough to have people around me who still believe in my football,” said Jo.

“Cuca said it would come and that everything would happen naturally. I played some great games last year but everything has been fantastic this year. Everything’s going right and my confidence is sky high.”

Jo has scored 13 goals in 38 appearances after forming a formidable partnership with Ronaldinho under coach, Cuca.
