Muriqui satisfied as Guangzhou Evergrande beat Al-Ahly SC 2-0 at FIFA Club World Cup
Guangzhou Evergrande forward Muriqui was satisfied despite not scoring in the 2-0 win against Al-Ahly SC at the FIFA Club World Cup.
The 27 year-old played a part in both goals, with Elkeson and Darío Conca tapping-in rebounds from his shots.
“I didn’t score, but we won all the same,” the Brazilian told FIFA.com. "That’s the most important thing.
“On the first goal, I could have scored, but a defender cleared the ball off the line. And then I had a shot saved by the goalkeeper during the move that led to the second goal. Thankfully, Conca followed up well.”
Guangzhou face Bayern Munich next in the semi-finals on Tuesday. The winner will face either Raja Casablanca or Atlético Mineiro in Sunday’s final at the Stade de Marrakech.
