Ronaldinho stakes claim for World Cup place with a brace
Atlético Mineiro star, Ronaldinho, has staked a calm for a place in Scolari’s world cup squad and has proved his fitness ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup with a brace against Vitoria on Sunday.
The 33 year old former World player of the year scored both of his sides goal in a 2-2 draw against Vitoria in Belo Horizonte, scoring a free kick and a penalty in the 89th minute.
Yesterday’s performance proved the star’s fitness ahead of his clubs appearance in the FIFA Club World Cup starting in Morocco on Wednesday.
The midfielder has also enhanced his chances of playing in the 2014 World Cup on his home soil.
“I appreciate the effort the club and the medical staff made to look look after me and get me fit again," Ronaldinho said after the match, reports ShaghaiDaily.com.
Atletico Mineiro are favourites to face Bayern Munich in the final after winning the Copa Libertabores in July.
