Cerezo Osaka midfielder Fábio Simplício believes Lucas Moura will return to São Paulo if he leaves Paris Saint-Germain in January.

The 21 year-old has been in and out of the PS-G side this season, making 21 appearances but only ten starts.

He was also dropped by Brazil head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari for the Seleção’s recent friendly victories against Honduras and Chile.

Reports have suggested Lucas might want to leave PS-G in January to get more regular playing time and rediscover his best form ahead of next summer’s FIFA World Cup.

Internazionale, who tried to sign the São Paulo-native before he moved to France, are believed to still hold an interest and backed by fresh investment from new owner Erick Thohir, could make a renewed bid when the transfer window reopens.

Fábio Simplício, who is also a São Paulo-native and spent eight years playing in Italy, believes Lucas will only leave PS-G to return to Brazil.

“I don’t think he wants to leave Paris, but if he has to leave PS-G, I think he leaves for Brazil and Sao Paulo and not for Italy,” he said, as reported by Sempre Inter.

Lucas joined Paris Saint-Germain from São Paulo last January for €45 million. He has been capped 31 times by Brazil.
