Carlos Alberto Parreira: “Enormous pressure” on Brazil’s FIFA World Cup opener against Croatia
Assistant manager Carlos Alberto Parreira has stressed the importance of Brazil’s opening FIFA World Cup game against Croatia.
The hosts were drawn in Group A, with Mexico and Cameroon making up the group.
The Seleção’s tie with Croatia, at the Arena Corinthians, will be the first game of the tournament. Parreira believes it is vital for Brazil to be victorious.
"The World Cup starts when you know who you are up against. It starts now,” he told FIFA.com.
"The opening game generates enormous pressure. Win the first match and you are well on the way to making it through.”
After Croatia, Brazil face Mexico at the Castelão, before finishing with Cameroon in Brasília’s Estádio Nacional Mané Garrincha.
