VfB Stuttgart forward Cacau expects “immense” pressure on Brazil
VfB Stuttgart forward Cacau expects Brazil to be under "immense" pressure at next summer’s FIFA World Cup.
The 32 year-old, who represents Germany at international level, insists all Brazilians are craving a win.
“Every Brazilian is hoping to witness a World Cup triumph on home soil,” he told FIFA.com. “Everyone will do whatever he or she can. Every Brazil game will be like a public holiday, although that obviously means the pressure will be immense.”
Cacau, who has scored six goals in 23 appearances for Germany, is skeptical regarding his chances of being selected for the World Cup.
“It’s hard to say. I’m injured at the moment in any case, and I’ve not played much for Stuttgart recently,” he continued. It’s not a priority for me at the moment and there’s no point talking about it. But I’ll definitely be in Brazil during the tournament.”
After coming through at Palmeiras and havings spells with Nacional, SV Türkgücü-Ataspor München and 1. FC Nürnberg, Cacau joined VfB Stuttgart in January 2003.
He won the 2006-07 Bundesliga and made his Germany debut in May 2009, against Chile, a 1-1 draw.
This season, the Santo André-native has made seven appearances for VfB Stuttgart, all as a substitute.
