Atlético Mineiro forward Jô has admitted he hopes to return to Europe in the future.

The 26 year-old initially moved to the continent in 2005, joining CSKA from Corinthians.

After impressing in Russia, he was signed by Manchester City in July 2008.

Jô, however, struggled at City and was loaned to Everton, twice, and Galatasaray, before returning to Brazil in July 2011, when he joined Internacional.

His stint with the Porto Alegre-based club was unsuccessful, but Jô has rediscovered his best form at Atlético Mineiro.

He has won the Copa Libertadores and Campeonato Mineiro this term, whilst scoring six goals in 19 appearances as Atlético sit 6th in the Brasileirão. Jô’s form has also earned him a Seleção recall.

The São Paulo-natives admits he is happy with Atlético, but hopes to return Europe when his contract expires.

“I indeed still want to return to Europe, play in the Champions League and return to one of those leagues," he told Superesportes.

“But I am still under contract [with Atlético Mineiro] and I want to see it out.

“I am wonderfully happy here, but I am still young, with this dream of going back there. We never know."
