Roberto de Almeida: Santos forward Neílton has interest from Sevilla and Tottenham Hotspur
Santos forward Neílton has interest from Sevilla and Tottenham Hotspur, as contract talks continue to stall.
The 19 year-old’s current deal runs out next summer. Santos have offered €8,500 a month, but Neílton’s agent, Roberto de Almeida, wants nearer €23,000.
With such disparity between the two proposal’s, talk of a move has inevitably intensified.
According to reports in the Brazilian media, Spanish side Sevilla are ready to pay €700,000 in December to secure a pre-contract agreement. They could then offer a nominal fee to Santos for Neílton to arrive in January, or wait until the summer.
Roberto de Almeida confirmed exclusively to Sambafoot today that he has received proposals from Europe, but wouldn’t specify which clubs have contacted him. Tottenham Hotspur, however, are believed to be amongst those interested.
Despite the struggles to agree a renewal, Neílton has insisted he wants to stay at Santos.
“I want to stay. We are negotiating. I am not involved in the talks, but I intend to stay,” he said at a sponsor event in São Paulo.
The youngster has made 14 appearances for Santos in the Brasileirão, scoring four goals.
