Robinho returns as Felipão names Brazil squad to face Chile and Honduras
Robinho has earned a surprise Brazil recall for next month’s friendlies with Chile and Honduras.
The 29 year-old was drafted in by head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, following Diego Costa’s decision to represent Spain, rather than the Seleção.
Robinho has scored just three goals in 13 appearances for Milan this season. His impressive recent showing against Barcelona, however, may have convinced Felipão he is worth a look. Robinho last played for Brazil in 2011.
Chelsea attacker Willian and Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos are other notable inclusions.
For 19 year-old Marquinhos, it is his first call up. He has settled quickly at PS-G, after joining for €32 million from Roma in July. He was, however, uncharacteristically at fault for both Saint-Étienne goals in a 2-2 draw on Sunday.
Willian has made only seven appearances - one start in the Premier League - for Chelsea this term. The 25 year-old comes in at the expense of Lucas Moura, who has struggled for form and playing time at PS-G.
Júlio César, captain Thiago Silva and Maicon are fit again, but Jefferson, Diego Cavalieri, Henrique, Dedé and Alexandre Pato all miss out. Fred is still injured.
Brazil face Honduras at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami on November 16, before heading to Toronto for a tie with Chile three days later.
