Brazil missing Abner but Nathan and Mosquito start U-17 World Cup Round of 16 tie with Russia
Brazil are without left full-back Abner for their FIFA U-17 World Cup Round of 16 clash with Russia.
The Coritiba-owned youngster, who has been strongly linked with Roma, suffered a knee injury in the Seleção’s final Group A match against Honduras.
In that tie he was replaced by Léo Pereira, but Thiago Maia will deputise to face Russia.
Brazil qualified through the group stages with ease. After 6-1 victories against Slovakia and hosts United Arab Emirates, they defeated Honduras 3-0.
Atlético Paranaense-owned duo Mosquito and Nathan have been the standout performers. They have scored seven goals between them. São Paulo’s Boschilia also has four.
Russia qualified as a best third place team. They finished behind Japan and Tunisia in Group D. Their only victory was a 4-0 drubbing of Venezuela.
Ramil Sheidaev is the danger man - he netted twice against the South Americans.
The winner of this tie will face Mexico, who defeated Italy 2-0, in Dubai on Friday.
