Diego Costa ‘very happy’ after making his Champions League debut
Diego Costa admits he was ‘very happy’ to make his Champions League debut.
The forward netted a brace as Atlético de Madrid defeated Austria Wien 3-0 on Tuesday.
The Spanish side have maximum points after three rounds, topping Group G.
Costa was delighted to play, having been an injury doubt.
"I really wanted to play in the Champions League," he said, as reported by FIFA.com. "It is a competition that every player wants to play in. I am very happy with my debut and very happy with the team's win.
"I had a bit of trouble and people knew, but the medical department has worked hard so I could play."
Costa has netted 12 goals in ten appearances this season. Atlético are currently 2nd in La Liga. They suffered their first loss of the campaign at Espanyol on Saturday.
