Brendan Rodgers: Philippe Coutinho ‘fine’ for Arsenal tie
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insists Philippe Coutinho is close to full fitness.
The 21 year-old is not expected to feature against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, but should be ready for next weeks tie at Arsenal.
"Philippe might just be short for this weekend," said Rodgers, as reported by Sky Sports.
"I think, after the weekend, he'll be fine. He has got really good strength in his shoulder now, it's just getting him up to speed in training and joining the group.
"He has re-joined training with the group. He's been on the field doing a lot of physical work and he has joined in with the team on a non-contact basis.
"He has been in the last couple of days and has looked brilliant to be honest, like he has never been away with his flow and fluency with the ball.
"His work has been excellent. It's great to see him back in and it's another quality player back for us. You always miss quality."
Coutinho has been out for over a month, after having surgery on a shoulder injury sustained in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Swansea City.
The Brazilian joined Liverpool in January from Internazionale for £8.5 million. The Reds are currently 3rd with 17 points, two adrift of leaders Chelsea.
