Scolari: I think Diego Costa will pick Brazil over Spain
Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari is confident that Atlético Madrid striker Diego Costa will choose to play for the country of his birth over Spain.
The 25-year-old has made two international appearances for the Seleção, but could still switch allegiances as he has only featured for his native country in friendlies.
Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has said that he is keen to call Costa up to his squad, but Scolari is eager for the striker to represent the country of his birth at next year's World Cup, reports Goal.com.
"I spoke with his agent Jorge Mendes to tell him that I'm going to call Diego up for the matches against Honduras and Chile," Scolari told Spanish radio station Cadena Cope.
"We have received the reports that Spain want to call him up as well, but he has already played for Brazil.
“I think that he will pick Brazil rather than Spain, but it's the player's decision.
"If I were to choose the squad for the World Cup today, Costa would be on the list."
Costa has scored 12 goals in all competitions for Atletico this season.
