Brazil U-17 star Mosquito hails on the pitch understanding with Nathan
Mosquito hopes his partnership with Nathan can one day emulate some of the great Brazilian duos.
The youngsters ran Slovakia ragged, as the Seleção started their FIFA U-17 World Cup campaign with a 6-1 win.
Mosquito netted a hat-trick, while Nathan scored two and provided two assists.
Both 17 year-old’s are owned by Atlético Paranaense. Mosquito believes their understanding at club level has transmitted into the national side.
“Everything’s easy when I play with Nathan because I know him so well,” he told fifa.com. “For me, there’s no mystery about it. We play well together at our club and we produce the same performances for the national side.”
Brazil’s U-17 assistant manager Mauricio Copertino echoed Mosquito’s thoughts.
“They play together for Atletico-PR's U-20 team. The club really back their development and they operate very well alongside one another. We saw that and so we decided to bring them together into our squad.”
Mosquito hopes the duo can grow into one of Brazil most renowned offensive pairings. He is, however, not getting carried away.
“All we want to do is be a good pair out on the pitch,” the youngster continued.” One day we might be like Bebeto and Romário or [Paulo Henrique] Ganso and Neymar, but right now our only job is to develop and grow because we are still young.”
Brazil face the United Arab Emirates next on Sunday. The hosts lost 2-1 to Honduras in their Group A opener.
