Igli Tare: Hernanes will stay with Lazio
Lazio technical area coordinator Igli Tare insists Hernanes wants to stay.
Reports earlier this week suggested the Brazilian international would refuse a contract renewal. His current deal expires in 2015.
Tare denies this. He claims Hernanes sees Lazio as ‘home’ and hopes the midfielder will remain in Rome.
“Despite his inconsistency, Hernanes remains a fundamental player for us,” Tare told Corriere dello Sport, as reported by Football Italia. “You just have to think back to the goals he has scored.
“Every time that I have spoken to him or his agent, I have been given the impression that he sees this as his home.
“He knows what Lazio can give him, what he can have in Rome. It is vital for us that we can guarantee him an important team.
“You never know what will happen in life and one day he could move somewhere else, but that day is still a long way off.
“Is a renewal close? It is not close nor far away.”
Hernanes joined Lazio from São Paulo for €11.1 million in 2010. This season he has made six appearances, scoring twice.
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are amongst the clubs said to be interested in the 28 year-old.
